Visiting Bulgaria (8th ed. - in Danish)

»Turen går til Bulgarien« (»Visting Bulgaria«, published by Politikens Forlag 2009) is an updated and completely new version of the previous edition. This book follows the publisher’s new concept, where more emphasis has been put on photos, maps and a visual description of the sights. A background chapter deals with topics such as history, society, culture and nature in an interesting and readable article form, and an overview in front of the book hand-picks the country's best sights, restaurants and accommodation options. On the back cover you'll find a dining card with Bulgarian dishes - obviously written in the Cyrillic alphabet with Danish pronunciation and translation - just to use when you are seated at the restaurant overlooking the Black Sea and ready to order dinner!

Moscow and St. Petersburg are described in two comprehensive chapters. There are also details of the classic routes through Russia - the Golden Ring, the Trans-Siberian Railway and the cruise down the Volga river. The guidebook is the first in Danish to give detailed practical information on independent travel within Russia, answering the important questions on visas, accommodation and food, and transport. With around 40 maps and a list of websites and addresses for local travel agencies the book is a truly comprehensive guide to this fascinating country. The book has been reviewed in the Danish daily newspapers Politiken and Berlingske.

Visiting Bulgaria (7th ed. - in Danish)

»Turen går til Bulgarien« (»Visiting Bulgaria«, published by Politikens Forlag 2007 – in Danish) is for those who want a quick overview of the country. It divides Bulgaria into five areas, starting with the capital, Sofia, then moving south through the three large mountain areas of Rila, Pirin and Rhodopes, to reach Plovdiv and the Plain of Thrace. From there the book’s journey goes east, through the Valley of the Roses to the shores of the Black Sea, before heading west again through the Balkan Range to finish on the Danubian Plain in the north. Bulgaria has a wealth of interesting sites, enough to fill several vacations, and the book describes these, as well as studying the most beautiful natural areas. The information is supported by a list of websites and addresses for local tourist information centres within the country. The book is sold out from publisher, but can still be obtained in many second-hand bookshops.
